The Castles VEGA3000 Countertop PIN Pad (VEGA 3000 P) provides a dedicated customer-facing payment interface designed for semi-integrated point-of-sale environments. This compact device excels in scenarios where the payment terminal needs to be positioned separately from the main POS system, giving customers convenient access for card insertion, PIN entry, and contactless taps.
Featuring a 2.4-inch color LCD display (320 x 240 pixels), the PIN Pad provides clear visual prompts throughout the transaction process. Built on a secure Linux operating system, the device can be configured with an optional privacy shield to protect customer PIN entries from observation—essential for maintaining cardholder security in retail environments.
The VEGA 3000 P integrates seamlessly with the VEGA 3000 C countertop terminal as the customer-facing device for card reading and PIN entry, while the main terminal handles merchant operations and receipt printing. It can also integrate directly with Electronic Cash Registers (ECR) where the ECR controls the terminal and manages connectivity. This semi-integrated architecture simplifies PCI compliance by isolating card data within the certified payment device.
Connectivity includes USB connection through the VEGA 3000 C's USB2 port for terminal pairing, or direct ECR integration. The PIN Pad supports comprehensive payment acceptance including EMV chip cards (ISO 7816), NFC contactless payments (ISO 14443 Type A/B, ISO 18092) for tap-and-go convenience with cards and mobile wallets, and magnetic stripe reading for traditional card processing. PCI PTS 5.x certification ensures all cardholder data is protected by current security standards.
The compact footprint (145 x 77 x 56.8mm, 260g) allows flexible positioning on counters with optional stand or bracket mounting for optimal customer accessibility.
